Professional estate advice needed...?

My father recently passed away without a will. I understand that my family have to go to probate court. He own a house outright and a piece of land that he still pay mortgage on. To my understand that all of us in the family will get some of his properties. I currently live out of the US and don't plan to come back any time soon ( i did came back for his funeral). Wil the probabe court contact me about his properties? I don't want any of it and I want to give it all to my mother, can I write a letter or is there a form for me to fill out that DECLINE any involment and that my mother can represent me in court? any advice is greatly needed...
