Should we go into Probate?

My dad just passed away a week ago. He didn't leave a will but us kids knew what he wanted to do with his assects. The house his paid off and its under my name. (I was the deed) Both my dad and I are joint accounts on his bank. We are all in agreement to split money in seven ways. We also knew he didn't owe anyone or anything just medical but the can be easy taking care of. He paid his taxes for last year and we know we have to pay just for the months he was living. If anything people owe him money... So should we go into probate? He paid the state for taxes and my dad was the type that if he owe he paid upfront he wouldn't wait. I talk to our family friend who's a lawyer and he's going to look into. And our family account as well. We also heard probate just cause's more drama.
